Dental Sealants

If you find that your child has a hard time reaching their molars when cleaning, you’ll want to inquire about dental sealants. Because these chewing teeth can easily trap bacteria and food debris, it causes them to be vulnerable to decay and cavities. But with dental sealants, this clear coating is applied to the chewing surfaces so that bacteria cannot penetrate and cause dental caries. With proper maintenance, they can last up to a decade, but our team will check to ensure they’re in good shape during each visit.

Silver Diamine Fluoride

Becoming increasingly popular among dentists, silver diamine fluoride (SDF) is an ideal solution for little ones who need treatment for cavities. The silver and fluoride work together, when applied, to stop the spread of decay, kill bacteria, and protect the vulnerable tooth. Although more invasive treatment will eventually be required (i.e., tooth-colored filling), SDF can be a viable option for children who are anxious about the dentist’s office.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

When a cavity forms and a child is old enough, a tooth-colored filling can be applied to improve the health of their smile. Using composite resin that blends into the color of teeth, is malleable, and does not expand like traditional amalgam, we will clean your child’s tooth to remove decay and/or damage before filling the area with composite resin, leaving your little one with a newer, healthier, cavity-free smile.

Pulp Therapy

The pulp of a tooth exists in the innermost portion, consisting of nerves and blood vessels. When damaged or infected, it can cause severe pain, resulting in the need for pulp therapy. Although it might sound daunting, our team will ensure optimal comfort and safety while removing the upper portion of the pulp. In doing so, your child will feel relief from the pain while also avoiding the potential of having the tooth extracted later on.

Non-Nutritive Oral Habits

Once your child reaches the age of two, it’s important that you begin to encourage healthier habits instead of ones that can cause problems for their bite. Non-nutritive habits like thumb-sucking or pacifier use are fine for infants; however, they can begin to negatively impact your child’s facial development and bite alignment if allowed to continue. We’re here to provide tips to make the process of letting go of these habits easier for your little one.

Tooth Extractions

It is never our desire to extract a child’s tooth, but certain situations require this method of treatment. If your little one’s baby teeth do not want to fall out on their own, we may need to remove one or more pearly whites to allow permanent teeth to erupt. It’s also possible that if a tooth is severely infected or damaged, tooth extraction may be the only way to avoid further harm to their oral health. No matter the reason for such treatment, you can count on our team to ensure your child remains safe, calm, and comfortable.

Athletic Mouthguards

When your avid athlete is ready to take to the field, court, or track, make sure they are equipped with a customized athletic mouthguard. This protective oral device keeps teeth in place should a sudden hit or fall occur. Instead of the potential for a knocked-out or broken tooth, the mouthguard will absorb the pressure and minimize the chances of having to leave the game for an emergency dental visit. Our mouthguards are made using impressions of your child’s teeth to ensure optimal comfort and protection.
