BlueCross BlueShield Coverage Availability & Fees

When selecting a plan through BlueCross BlueShield, you may notice a difference between in-network and out-of-network coverage. Choosing a dentist who is in-network with your plan will help you save more when needing preventive or restorative care. Why?

When practices like Waterford Dental Group enter into a contract with companies like BlueCross BlueShield, we do so with the mindset that patients will pay less for the services they receive. We want to make sure cost is not a barrier to treatment, so the fees associated with certain services are significantly less than if you were to choose an out-of-network dentist.

Monthly premiums, deductibles, and annual maximums are likely to vary; however, the breakdown of benefits among PPO in-network dentists looks something like the following:

  • 100% preventive services (i.e., dental exams, dental cleanings, X-rays)
  • 80% minor restorative services (i.e., dental fillings, simple tooth extractions)
  • 50% major restorative services (i.e., dental crowns, dentures, oral surgery)

Cosmetic dentistry is typically not covered by dental insurance because these services are not considered essential to improving the health of your smile. While there are exceptions (i.e., metal-free restoration for a damaged or decayed tooth), our team will need to make sure the paperwork is filed in a way that reflects the medical necessity of such treatment – a service we are pleased to provide.

Meet Casey

Casey the financial coordinator

When arriving at Waterford Dental Group, you will meet with our treatment and financial coordinator, Casey. As a graduate of San Francisco University, she is committed to putting patients’ needs first, ensuring everyone who walks through our doors remains happy and healthy. Not only will she make sure you are fully aware of your proposed treatment plan, but she will also answer any questions you might have about the timeline and cost. Her knowledge of dental insurance in Dublin will ensure you understand what you can expect to be covered and what kind of out-of-pocket expenses you might incur. No matter what kind of payment plan you need to move forward with, Casey will take the time to go over your options so that price doesn’t keep you from getting the treatment you need.
